Six Month Cleanings

Schedule an appointment with our dentists for your routine six month cleaning. During that visit, we will examine your teeth and mouth visually and may order x-rays if a tooth appears to be problematic or if your teeth have not been x-rayed in some time.

The hygienist will remove the tartar build-up from your teeth and particularly your gum line, an activity that will help build healthy gums and teeth. The hygienist or dentist may measure the “pockets” in your teeth to check how much your gums are receding or how inflamed they are. This measurement is partly how they always know how much you have been flossing.

At the appointment with the hygienist, it is your ideal time to talk about your brushing and flossing routine. He or she can help you develop a better routine for flossing and brushing and can answer your questions about devices such as water picks and electric tooth brushes.

Getting Fillings

It happens to everyone at one point or another. A tooth becomes decayed and the decayed portion needs to be removed and replaced with a filling. The filling helps keep the decay from spreading through the tooth so that it will stay stronger for a much longer time. In some cases the decayed area is large and the tooth will need a crown, but a filling is far more common. Depending on the placement of the filling, the filling material itself may appear metallic or may match your tooth color.

Crowns and Root Canals

A tooth may lose enough of its top structure, over time, it weakens and needs to be replaced with a crown. The crown replaces the top portion of the tooth that appears above the gum line. The crown will  look and feel just like a regular tooth. On occasion, the root of the tooth itself may become unhealthy and may need a root canal. In this case, the top of the tooth is replaced by a crown as well.

Root canal work can be fairly extensive. If you are concerned about being able to sit in a dental chair for three hours or so and particularly if you have anxiety when it comes to dental work, you may ask us for sedation dentist options, particularly prescription medication that may help you relax and make it through the procedure.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are the modern answer to partial plates and dentures. When you lose a tooth entirely, you have the option of a dental implant which is a device fastened into your jaw bone. It has the look and feel of a regular tooth and is permanently fastened, unlike a denture or partial. These devices cost more initially but they are far easier to care for and have better performance than other, less permanent options.

Cosmetic Dentistry

You may be interested in whitening your teeth more than you can with some of the products available at your local store. Talk to your dentist about teeth whitening options. If your smile isn’t all that you would like it to be, we can help. From chipped and unsightly teeth to larger gaps, there is a cosmetic procedure that can help you to transform your smile into something that you will be proud to show the world.

If you are looking for a dentist’s office that can not only take care of all of your dental needs, but can also provide a family friendly environment, you have come to the right place. Give us a call today so that we can schedule an appointment and get you started.
